Why do we need Laughter Yoga?
- In order to get the scientifically proven benefits of laughter, we need to laugh continuously for at least 10 – 15 minutes. In Laughter Yoga we do laughter exercises to prolong the laughter. On the other hand, natural laughter only lasts a few seconds at best.
- To reap the health benefits of laughter, laughter has to be loud and deep coming from the diaphragm. It should be a belly laugh. It may not be socially acceptable to laugh this way in most situations but in Laughter Yoga we provide a safe environment where this type of laughter is possible and encouraged.
- Natural laughter depends upon many reasons and conditions, but as we age, the reasons we laugh is very different for each individual and thus we are leaving laughter to chance. In Laughter Yoga we laugh out of a commitment and thus get the health benefits that come with this.
